Challenges and my weariness (plus La Fuente slide show)

Sisters and brothers,

I hope you are all filled with JESUS´ love. I am thankful to have you by my side serving our KING of kings, shining His light through His church.

That´s what I want to share with you in this post. Specifically, I want to ask for your prayers for the church here and for me.

As you know one of the values of our church is ¨community¨ and currently we are running four community groups that meet weekly to grow in Truth and Mission. I´m facilitating one of them in a unprivileged area in Quito. We have been running this community in that area for about four months. I am sharing this because as I strive to teach the Gospel and live it out with them, there has also been plenty of struggles related to issues like: generational divorce pattern, gang problems, abused single mothers, kids with no father/male role models, drugs (meth) & alcohol, and infidelity.

Yeah I know it sounds like I am exaggerating, but it is what it is. And I guess, this is something that not only happens here, but all over the world. So if you wonder why I share this with you? then my answer is: because I need your prayers/intercession.

I believe so much in the power of prayer and I know you too; besides, we serve a GOD that loves to answer prayer right?

James 5:16b ¨The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.¨

1 John 5:14-15 – ¨And this is the confidence that we have toward him, that if we ask anything according to his will he hears us. And if we know that he hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of him.¨

So if I may, let me ask that you would please lift this up in prayer:

For families of La Fuente church that are suffering and some are losing sight of the Cross.

–  For me please. Even though all this (challenges) seems just right, because I know the enemy likes to fight us when we want to give glory to GOD. I sometimes feel overwhelmed and weary. I confess to you that sometimes I lose strength when I don´t focus on JESUS´s strength, instead I focus on inadequacy and my lack of wisdom, humility, patience, and faith as a undersheperd (elder/leader) of our SAVIOUR.

Thanks from deep in my heart for helping these families and me with your prayers, we need it.

I hope I didn´t bum you out. Here I share with you some pictures of the last quartely Body-Life meeting of all communities last Tuesday, enjoy and thank you for being part of all this – the challenges and the joy:

Your partner and brother in CHRIST,

Juan Manuel

Haven’t talked for a long time- bob here from nightstrike in Portland- remember Dickey’s bbq in san diego- lifting you up brother- i have been moved into many trying relationships- with anger, mental illness, drugs … 8 people God has placed in my life -i feel like Paul – within- without battle

    [9] and He said to me, ‘Sufficient for thee is My grace, for My power in infirmity is perfected;’ most gladly, therefore, will I rather boast in my infirmities, that the power of the Christ may rest on me: [10] wherefore I am well pleased in infirmities, in damages, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses–for Christ; for whenever I am infirm, then I am powerful;

Sounds like we could both need to be In His Hands.

O Jehovah, I know that the way of man is not in himself: it is not in man that walks to direct his steps. Jeremiah 10:23

  3. Dear Juan Manuel, You are in our prayers. Isn’t it amazing how many hurting people there are out there. I have always found comfort in the verse in II Timothy about being poured out like a drink offering. Sometimes we feel like that, don’t we. But what’s better than being an offering to the Lord. Nothing. We’re do proud of you and your dedication to the Lord’s people. keep up the wonderful work. We love you, Liz and Da

  4. Dale and LIz, i am so thankful for you. GOD used you to plant the first seeds of Truth in my heart back when I was lost and blind. Now He keeps on using you to encourage me on this path.

I am so grateful for you. Thanks for your words, they hit home ; >
